In the actual use of the slewing bearing and the pinion, problems often occur, resulting in wear, chipping, and abnormal noise on the tooth root or side of the gear, as shown in the following figure.
This phenomenon mainly occurs in pinion gears with gear quenching, which involves the following aspects:
·bending
In high-force applications, dynamic load peaks under acceleration, braking action or vibration will cause elastic deformation in the meshing teeth.
·Center distance error
Manufacturing tolerances in gear machining, especially pitch errors, cannot be prevented, which can have a negative impact when combined with bending effects.
·Drive unit
Most slewing drive units are mounted in a cantilevered arrangement and the deflection of the pinion shaft is unavoidable. High force will simultaneously produce elastic deformation at the interface of the slewing drive and mounting structure. This deformation can also cause meshing problems.
·lubricating
The three influencing factors mentioned will result in high peak loads acting on the edge of the pinion tip, which may cause the lubricant film to rupture and direct metal contact will increase the chipping effect.
