Five precautions for slewing bearing disassembly and assembly

The importance of the slewing bearing of the excavator is self-evident. Various loads and moments on the working device need to be transmitted to the underframe through the slewing bearing. Because the slewing ring carries the overload work, it is also the part of the excavator that is more prone to failure. Therefore, a new slewing ring  needs to be installed after a long time of use. Today, I will talk about the precautions required during the disassembly and assembly process.

1. Choose a suitable repair site

Before disassembling the slewing bearing, it is necessary to determine a suitable maintenance and replacement site. The site should be relatively flat and have a large operating space to facilitate the separation and lifting of the upper and lower parts of the excavator during the disassembly and assembly process.

2. The hoisting process should be cautious

In the process of replacing the slewing bearing, the upper structure of the excavator needs to be transferred to another place. At this time, the most commonly used hoisting tool is a crane. When disassembling or installing, the hoisting wire rope must be hung up to ensure safety. Slowly carry out lifting operations.

3. Safety is the most important, it is recommended not to use jacks

Some people sometimes do not choose to use a crane in the process of disassembly and assembly. For example, as shown in the figure above, the upper part is cushioned with jacks and bricks. However, it is best not to use the above method, because the risk index is quite high, and remember to put safety first.

4. Choose the right brand of slewing ring

There are many manufacturers of slewing bearings  on the market, and the quality of their products varies. Now that you have chosen to replace a new slewing ring, remember not only to choose a cheap slewing ring, but to choose a reliable and durable slewing ring.

5. The screws need to be tightened, and the lubrication should not be less

The detailed disassembly process will not be introduced one by one. When installing a new slewing bearing, remember to replace the screws to prevent hidden injuries. Remember that the screws must be tightened. In addition, lubricating oil must be applied to the new slewing ring, which can effectively reduce internal friction and increase the service life of the bearing, and it needs regular lubrication and maintenance afterwards.
