A static load bearing is the weight applied without any build up of energy, and therefore is to remain motionless. Force, pressure, and gravity remain static or are applied gradually. A dynamic load bearing is measured by the application of rapid force or pressure to an object.

In static loading all loads are constant in time. This means there is no movement in the system because the loads have always and will always be there. This allows many problems to be simplified.In dynamic loading the load is not required to be constant in time. The load could change as time changes and objects in the system are permitted movement.

Determine the maximum bearing loads. These loads must include all dynamic and static loads imposed on the bearing. The loads in turn must be transposed to loads acting at the bearing’s center.

The majority of four contact point slewing rings applications require the bearing to transmit static load or high loads at slow rotation with operation being intermittent. In such applications, the fatigue life of the internal bearing complement is less of a concern than the bearing’s static and infrequent load capability. Most bearing selection is based on the XZWD load rating chart and an appropriate service factor for the intended application 

Selection of a suitable slewing ring for common applications can be carried out from the point of view of the static load rating by means of the diagrams (curves) for the limiting static load of the raceways and fixing bolts based on the calculated equivalent axial and moment static load.Slewing rings allow accomodation of combined loads, i.e. both axial and radial forces and tilting moments including eccentric loads.
